In the spring of 2020 I decided to apply for the Advanced Motion Methods course that was being offered at School of Motion, and I’m so happy that I did!  The class was taught by the incredible Sander van Dijk -who I already knew of because I used some of the plugins that he designed, as well as watched several of his tutorials online!  My TA was another incredible motion designer, Alex Magnieto, who really pushed me to consider the energy and flow of each project I was assigned to.  I’m more than excited to use all of the new skills I’ve learned in this class, going forward in my career as a motion designer!  I highly recommend this class if you already know and use After Effects -it will level up your game and give you some incredible tools to help you stand out in the industry!
Week 1

Hearing my voice still sounds like fingernails on a chalkboard -there's a reason I work with VO artists!

Week 02
Week 03

Sander animated the first 11 seconds, and the rest was animated by me!

Week 03-04
Week 05-06
Week 07-10

This is still version 1 -I have a lot I want to go back in and add, but I'm really happy with how much I accomplished in the time I was given!

FINAL THOUGHTS:
Every other week or so the TA’s get together and record a live critique called “The Sequence” where they pick a couple of projects from their group to review.  Sometimes they pointed out what they liked, other times they gave tips on how to improve something, and with every project I turned in, I was DYING to get selected!  I finally was, on the very last assignment, on the very last day!  Alex had really nice things to say and pointed out all of the small details I was hoping someone would notice.  Having my hard work be acknowledged and complimented LIVE was a very big cherry on the sundae that was me finishing this super intense course.  It’s been fun looking back and reflecting on my time spent, and I look forward to taking more classes at School of Motion!
